There is a struggle. It is not struggle as we tend to believe it. It is not the lion versus the wildebeast. It is not the parasitic vine versus the sycamore. It is not you versus me versus them.

The struggle is in our heads. The memes against us. The unrelenting nature of nature versus the human condition. It is a struggle for rebirth. The inner god pushing us to civility and enlightenment against the untamable forces of the universe that are the stuff that shaped our being from the beginning.

The struggle is to break free of that nature within ourselves that keeps us beastly. Logic promotes civility. Logic promotes being.

Our neighborhood, be it jungle, tundra, downtown, or desert, promotes nature and wilderness. Survival by savagery. Survival by our prehistoric animal selves. Survival via the universe still inhabiting us.

The stratefied mind, edging away from the center, away and above gravity, avoiding the center of the earth, struggles to go up. It builds a cortex to supercede the reptilian. It builds a neocortex as a portal to evolve away from the savage, and toward the god within. A fight between the universe, its commandment to evolve by brute force and conflagration, and the mind, with its codified program to become one with itself, superceding the bastions of chaos.

We must conceive that the universe has always been and must always be. We have never known it to be any other way. Therein, we must assume that this is a repeating process and that this struggle is one of many. Countless times before. Countless times to come. Hence, we, the experiment, may fail. Only to be repeated when the chance presents itself again somewhere in the universe.

When the experiment fails, we attain what we have now. The repetitious cycle of the chaotic world.

If the experiment succeeds, the successor will be the new light. The new god. The successor to the universe. The creator of the end. The destination to the universe's eternal quest for self-definition.

To surmount, our aim cannot be anything but vehement and perpetual determination to reidentify the struggle, locate the inner god, and to become one with it. Under no other circumstance will we overcome the nature that lurks within us. We, the experiment in progress, may yet be the test that comes out positive. We may yet be the locus of the universe that is at war with itself, struggling to discover its own end.
